The 1st Comprehensive Plan for Port Air Quality (2021~2025)

  • Background

    Establish a 5-year government action plan(from 2021 to 2025) under the aim to reduce air polluntants produced at a port, including fine particle(PM2.5), sulfur oxide(SOx), nitrogen oxide(NOx) and etc.

  • Objective

    By the year of 2025, reduce the total emission of fine particle at the port by 60% compared to that of 2016.

Detailed Goal

  1. Reduce ship-driven air pollutant

    • Decrease the ship-driven emission via designating Emission Control Area(ECA), initiating Vessel Speed Reduction Program (VSR) and expanding the use of eco-friendly vessels.

  2. Achieve Eco-friendly Port

    • Initiate environment-friendly activities at the port, including transforming the conventional tractors to LNG Yard Tractor, expanding the use of LNG bunkering and Alternative Maritime Power Supply(AMP).

  3. Create Safe Living Condition

    • Build·distribute guideline on dust scattering management at the port, relocate outdoor cargo·storage facilities to indoor and implement emergency reduction plan in response to high concentrated fine particle.
  • Legal Ground

    Establish legal basis every five year, based upon ｢Special Act on the Improvement of Air Quality in Port Areas｣
