The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (Minister Cho Seung Hwan) plans to roll out a range of exciting initiatives, including online discount events, to enable citizens to enjoy their summer breaks while basking in the splendor of beautiful fishing villages by the seaside.

First, in collaboration with the private travel platform Yeogi Eottae (GC Company), the Ministry will unveil an online ‘Summer Breaks at Fishing Villages (여름휴가 어촌으로)’ campaign site, which will offer up to 30% discounts on selected tour products, including experiences, accommodations, and dining options at fishing villages that offer diverse experience and leisure programs. The discount event will continue for one month from August 14th to September 13th, where the discounted purchases can be used by October 13th.

 * Discount vouchers are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The event may end earlier when discount offers are fully redeemed.

Adding to the excitement, a curated selection of four recently popular fishing village travel programs will be showcased via the Sea’N’tour website (www.seantour.com). Visitors to Yeongam Village of Ongjin County and Gunheon Village of Boryeong City, two fishing villages selected as top August destinations, will be able to take part in the lucky draw event by verifying their visits, with winners receiving KRW 20,000 worth of Naver Pay gift vouchers*.

 * How to participate: upload travel snapshots at selected villages within August with the hash tag message #August_Destination_of_the_month on personal social network accounts. Lucky draw winners will receive KRW 20,000 worth of Naver Pay vouchers (20 winners).

Moreover, the Ministry will also introduce the Fishing Village Workation program, where urban residents can blend their work commitments and vacations at fishing villages. The program will continue until December at ten selected fishing village locations that are fully equipped with workspaces, residential environments, and convenience facilities, targeting professionals working in urban cities. Program participants will receive partial subsidies on shared office space, accommodation, breakfast, fishing village experience programs (limited to one experience/person), and travel insurance for four-day, three-night stays.
