It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the first Minister of Oceans and Fisheries under the administration of President LEE Jae-myung. I am deeply mindful of the responsibility entrusted to me and undertake this role with humility, a strong sense of purpose, and unwavering dedication.

As Minister, I will work with you all to chart a new course for the future of the Republic of Korea, grounded in the ocean.

To this end, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) will establish a forward-looking maritime hub in anticipation of the emerging era of the Arctic shipping routes.

MOF will foster Korea's shipping and port industries as key national strategic sectors, strengthening Korea’s leadership in eco-friendly and digital maritime transport. The fisheries sector will likewise be transformed into a sustainable engine of future growth through innovation and resilience.

To revitalize coastal and fishing communities, we will expand marine leisure tourism, promote ocean-based wellness initiatives, and enhance tourism infrastructure that supports balanced regional development.

Lastly, we remain firmly committed to ensuring cleaner seas and safeguarding Korea’s maritime sovereignty with greater resolve.

The journey ahead will be challenging. Yet I firmly believe that, together with all of you, we will navigate the course successfully.
