Publication of the Republic of Korea’s National Maritime Atlas containing comprehensive information on Korea’s oceans

- Distribution of marine maps containing the past, present, and future of Korea’s oceans

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Agency announced that it published the National Maritime Atlas of the Republic of Korea. This Atlas contains comprehensive and systematic information on Korea's maritime territory, natural environment, and socioeconomic status.

As the first comprehensive government-level record of Korea's oceans, the National Maritime Atlas of the Republic of Korea is a booklet produced by experts in various fields such as government, public institutions, and marine academe who collected, organized, and analyzed data on the current state of Korea's oceans.

The National Maritime Atlas of the Republic of Korea contains the results of marine surveys conducted on Korea's oceans and provides information related to Korea's oceans by dividing them into four sections: marine space, nature, society, and history.

It also includes information from the past to the future, such as changes in Korea’s seas and coastlines and port development plans. It is visually organized using maps and illustrations to present specialized content in an easy-to-understand, effective manner.

The atlas is scheduled to be distributed sequentially to approximately 550 organizations including government ministries, public organizations, libraries, and educational institutions.
