- National Fishery Products Quality Management Service website (www.nfqs.go.kr) plans to consolidate and disclose test results from other institutions, including local governments, twice a week
- Improved Radiation Inspection Status Service to allow search by test items and locations

The National Fishery Products Quality Management Service (Director General Hong Rae Hyung) will be launching an improved Radiation Inspection Status Service from April 12th (Wednesday) for the Korean public to easily and conveniently check the results of seafood radiation tests.

Until now, seafood radiation test results in the production stages were published separately on the websites of the National Fishery Products Quality Management Service (NFQS), National Institute of Fisheries Science, and local governments, making it in convenient for users to check each of the sites. Moreover, test results were only accessible by downloading documents in the proprietary HWP format, with no search features by specific items, regions, or periods, making it cumbersome to perform a thorough review of the test results at a single glance.

As a result, the National Fishery Products Quality Management Service will be improving its service and provide consolidated seafood radiation test results of all testing institutions twice each week (Mondays and Wednesdays) via its website. The same report will be accessible from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries website.

Furthermore, the National Fishery Products Quality Management Service has improved its search engine to allow users to search by inspected items, sample collection locations and dates for the results of the tests it has performed over the last five years.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries conducted a total of 5,441 (target of 4,000) radiation tests in 2022 to ensure the safety of seafood produced in Korea, and has set this year’s target at more than 8,000 tests.
