The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (Minister CHO Seung Hwan) will be hosting the Invitational Training Program for World Maritime University students for one week from March 25th (Saturday) to April 1st (Saturday).

The World Maritime University Invitational Training Program, which started in 2004, aims to introduce Korea's advanced industrial sites and maritime policies to students who are active maritime experts in their respective nations. After a hiatus of four years due to COVID19, this year's event will see participation by 12 students from 10 nations and two leaders, totaling 14 visitors.

This year's training program comprises site visits to various locations, including ▲ Busan Port, ▲ seafarer training facilities, such as Korea Maritime & Ocean University and Korea Institute of Maritime and Fisheries Technology, ▲ advanced shipbuilding facilities like the Autonomous Vessel Performance Demonstration Center of Ulsan Hyundai Heavy Industries and Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering, ▲ the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and ▲ cultural experience programs.

Director General Hong Jong Wook, Head of the Maritime Affairs and Safety Policy Bureau of MOF, expressed his pride by commenting that “Korea's invitational training program is one of the onsite training programs most preferred by World Maritime University students.” Additionally, he hoped that “this year's event could help raise awareness of the contributions made by Korea in the international maritime sector and that future graduates could become active players in the maritime sector of their nations, thereby becoming supporters and allies of Korea."
