The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries will hold a ceremony commemorating the first Seafarers’ Day with the theme “New Beginning, Our Great Voyage” at the main auditorium of Korea Maritime and Ocean University in Busan. Seafarers’ Day, which falls every third Friday of June, is a national holiday designated for the first time this year to inform the public of the importance of seafarers and increase their pride. About 500 people, including Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Kang Do-hyung, seafarers, and officials from related organizations, attended this ceremony to commemorate the first Seafarers’ Day.
