On June 5, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries hosted the 2024 Korea International Cooperation Conference on Oceans and Fisheries at The Ambassador Seoul – A Pullman Hotel. The Conference, which marks its 11th year, is an annual event where coastal island nations from around the world come together to discuss international agendas on marine and fisheries and explore ways to strengthen cooperation. This year’s conference engages with African nations on the occasion of the Korea-Africa Summit. During the conference, Ghana, a fisheries-centric nation in West Africa, discussed plans to expand cooperation in the areas of fisheries development, including training of seafarers, strengthening capacity to fight piracy, and the eradicating of illegal fishing.
