Seafarers’ Day is a legal commemorative day designated in 2023 to inform the public of the importance of seafarers and to increase seafarers’ pride and self-esteem. The third Friday of June is designated as Seafarers’ Day; this year, the commemorative event for the 2nd Seafarers’ Day will be held at the Busan Port International Convention Center in Busan on Friday, June 20.
Additionally, various events linked to Seafarers' Week are prepared to invite participation by seafarers, their families, and the public. Starting with ▲the Sailor Recruitment Fair on Friday, June 13, the events will include ▲Collected Heart Walking Festival for the 2nd Seafarers’ Day on Saturday, June 14, ▲Young Maritime Officers’ Talk Concert on Tuesday, June 17, ▲Seafarers’ Seminar on Wednesday, June 18, ▲ 2nd Seafarers’ Festival on Thursday, June 19, ▲Seafarers’ Heritage Competition on Friday, June 20, and ▲Deep Sea Festival for Seafarers’ Day on Saturday, June 21. Anyone can visit the Seafarers’ Day website (www.kosweek.com) to find information on key events and specific details.
“I hope that the Seafarers’ Day will be an opportunity to inform the public of the importance of our seafarers, who are essential personnel protecting the national economic security. MOF will continue efforts to create an onboard working environment where seafarers want to work and to foster excellent seafarers,” Minister Kang Do-hyung said.
