Held annually by each member country, the PIANC AGA is a regular general meeting where governments, companies, and international port experts gather to share port and waterway construction technologies from each country. It will be the first time for Korea to host the PIANC AGA, which will be held in Busan this year. It will be used to introduce Busan Port—which is being developed into a global hub port—to the world and promote Korea's port technology actively.

This year’s AGA plans to ▲discuss trends in smart and carbon-neutral port technology research, ▲present best practices in port and waterway construction from each country, ▲introduce the host city and the direction of Korea's port policy, and ▲select the host city for the 2027 AGA. Approximately 200 domestic and foreign port experts are expected to attend.

“As this year’s PIANC AGA is the first to be held in Korea, it will be a great opportunity to promote the expertise and technological prowess of Korean ports to the world. I expect it to help solidify our position as a leader in the port sector with global hub ports, too.” Minister Kang Do-hyung said.

As a non-governmental advisory organization under the United Nations, PIANC provides information exchange and international cooperation on port and waterway construction. It was established in 1885 and is currently based in Brussels, Belgium. It has 512 corporate and 2,200 individual members in 84 countries worldwide and conducts research and discussion on international standards as well as the latest technologies for port and waterway construction.
