Holding the 2025 Marine Leisure Tourism Expo, Korea's Largest Marine Leisure Festival

- Opening at SETEC on Wednesday, May 7 as a venue for the fusion of maritime, leisure, and tourism

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF; Minister Kang Do-hyung) announced that it would be holding the 2025 Marine Leisure Tourism Expo—the largest marine tourism complex exhibition in Korea—from Wednesday, May 7 to Saturday, May 10 at the Seoul Trade Exhibition & Convention (SETEC) in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

The Marine Leisure Tourism Expo is being held for the first time as a private sector-led event to foster marine leisure tourism as a key national growth industry and support the sustainable development of the marine leisure tourism industry following the enforcement of the Marine Leisure Tourism Promotion Act (effective January 31, 2025).

This expo is hosted by MOF and organized by the Marine Leisure Tourism Expo Committee and the Korean Urban Regeneration Industry Association (KURIA).

Under the slogan “An Expo of Oceans, Leisure, Tourism, Enterprise, Technology, Industry, Talent Exchange, Communication, and Opportunity,” major public institutions and private companies will participate, including local governments, port authorities, and fishing village support centers.

About 50 local governments, public institutions, and private companies will operate about 250 booths at the expo exhibition hall. MOF will also operate the Policy PR Center to introduce major marine leisure tourism policies such as the creation of a complex marine leisure tourism city, construction of a marine healing center, and support for excellent marine tourism products.

Local governments and public institutions also plan to operate Policy PR Centers to introduce regional marine tourism policies to the public. Companies will operate PR halls that sell marine leisure tourism products at low prices to visitors and leisure equipment exhibition halls that sell leisure vessels such as yachts and boats.

They will also operate the Mermaid Dive program where visitors can swim wearing a skin scuba suit, including water leisure booths such as indoor canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, and water bikes to provide visitors with the opportunity to experience and enjoy various marine leisure products.

Moreover, the University Student Idea Contest for Marine Leisure Tourism will be held, and students who are interested in the marine leisure tourism field can participate. Visitors can directly see the university students' novel and unique ideas on the opening day on May 7.

"This Expo will be a significant opportunity to connect the marine leisure industry and regional marine tourism resources. We will provide support so that everyone can enjoy the ocean, and young people and businesses can find new opportunities in the marine leisure tourism industry," Minister Kang Do-hyung said.

Admission to the exhibition is free, and visitors can enter quickly without waiting on-site by pre-registering through the official website (www.mltk.co.kr).
