Acquisition of Public-Private JV Logistics Center in Georgia, USA to Stabilize the Supply Chain
KOBC and LX Pantos signing an agreement to acquire a JV logistics center in Georgia, USA
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF; Minister Kang Do-hyung) disclosed that Korea Ocean Business Corporation (KOBC) and LX Pantos held a signing ceremony to acquire a joint venture (JV) logistics center in Dalton in Georgia, USA on Friday, March 8, 2025 (local time).
The KOBC-LX Pantos joint venture acquired two room-temperature warehouses with total leased area of 109,332 m2, which were previously owned by an American company located in Georgia.
MOF has provided support for securing overseas logistics infrastructure with KOBC and Busan Port Authority to strengthen the global competitiveness of Korean logistics companies. The signing of this agreement for investment expands the public-private JV logistics center to six locations by adding another center in Dalton, Georgia to the existing five locations: Rotterdam, Netherlands; Barcelona, Spain; Java, Indonesia (two locations); and LA, USA.
Dalton, Georgia is an inland logistics hub with a high concentration of logistics warehouses and distributors, featuring the intersection of two major interstate highways (I-75 and I-24) and proximity to Atlanta Airport. Moreover, as a region where approximately 140 Korean companies including automobile and secondary battery manufacturers and their suppliers have local operations, Georgia is expected to play a key role in the logistics supply chain in the United States for Korean export and import companies.
MOF plans to expand overseas JV logistics centers in major logistics hubs in the United States starting with the LA Logistics Center—which opened last September—followed by the Georgia Center and other planned locations including Chicago and New Jersey. Additionally, MOF intends to diversify logistics hubs to Eastern Europe, South America, and Southeast Asia to mitigate risks arising from uncertainties in the global trade market.
"With the intensifying global protectionism and ongoing regional conflicts, the uncertainty in the global logistics market is greater than ever. We will focus our effort on strategically securing infrastructure in emerging logistics hubs to enhance the competitiveness of Korean logistics companies and support stable import and export activities for the manufacturing industry," Minister Kang Do-hyung said.
