MOF holds a Briefing Session for the 2025 Seafood Export Industry Support Program to Promote the Global Leap of K-Seafood
- The MOF holds a briefing session on the seafood export support program in six regions nationwide from February 12 to 21.
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF; Minister Kang Do-hyung) will hold a briefing session for the 2025 Seafood Export Industry Support Program from Wednesday, February 12 to Friday, February 21 in six regions across the country for the relevant parties, including seafood product processing companies, domestic seafood companies, and export companies.
The briefing session has been prepared to share the outlook for aquatic seafood exports in 2025 with exporters and domestic distribution companies and to provide detailed explanations of the export support projects due to be expanded this year.
The MOF will increase the number of companies eligible for export voucher support from 62 to 100 this year, providing up to KRW 220 million per company, and will lower the eligibility requirement for companies that are beginning to receive export vouchers from KRW 1 billion in sales to KRW 500 million. The government also plans to increase the available support for obtaining international certifications by raising the maximum subsidy per company from the current KRW 70 million to KRW 100 million, and to diversify overseas markets by increasing the number of companies participating in international exhibitions held overseas from 199 to 234.
In addition, the MOF will strengthen promotional efforts targeting foreign tourists starting from this year. A new initiative, K-Seafood Inbound Marketing, which closely links K-Culture with K-Seafood for enhanced promotion, will be launched, and a documentary will be produced and aired in collaboration with foreign broadcasting media. Moreover, the government will continue to support insurance premiums for exchange rate fluctuations in response to the high exchange rate and unstable currency fluctuations.
“We expect that these programs will help to expand and diversify the seafood exports of Korean seafood companies. We will actively support the strategic fostering of oyster, abalone, and other seafood products in addition to seaweed and tuna, which are our key export products,” Minister Kang Do-hyung said.
