- Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, 10. 12.~14. Online Korea Seafood Expo held -

  The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (Minister MOON, Seong-Hyeok) announced that the '2021 KOREAN SEAFOOD ON-LINE EXPO’ would be held for three days from October 12 (Tue) to 14 (Thu) to support domestic seafood exporters who are suffering from COVID-19.

  Due to the global spread of COVID-19, a number of international fairs, including export consultations to secure new overseas markets, have been canceled, and related industries are experiencing difficulties.

  Accordingly, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries has been holding an online seafood fair since last year to encourage domestic seafood exporters to secure overseas markets. In June, non-face-to-face export consultations were held with 48 domestic companies and 82 overseas buyers, resulting in an export contract worth KRW 7 billion. In addition, it provided an opportunity to promote Korean seafood to overseas consumers through 37 online and offline distribution stores in 5 countries including Thailand and Malaysia.

The fair is divided into the 1:1 non-face-to-face export consultation and the export product exhibition. First, including the United States, Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia where the Fisheries Trade Support Center is located, the 1:1 non-face-to-face export consultation with 200 overseas buyers from Australia, Europe, and North America and 70 domestic companies will be held. The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries provides interpretation services in eight languages for smooth consultation, and supports overseas delivery of product samples or web content creation for product information.

There will be an opportunity to promote to overseas buyers by exhibiting 900 products from 198 domestic companies through the four permanent exhibition halls: ▲ K-FISH Brand Promotion Hall ▲ Refrigerated/Frozen Fish Food Hall ▲ Processed Seafood Hall ▲ Seaweed and Seaweed Food Hall in the online export product exhibition.

In addition, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries has opened more than 80 public relations channels in 14 countries, including Italy Economy, Adnkronos, Spain Comunicae, and BolsaM, and Instagram (Instagram ) to promote the fair.

  KIM, Jae-Cheol Director General for Fisheries Policy bureau said, “We will strengthen support for export promotion program by inviting overseas buyers to tour production plants in order to increase the credibility of our export products.”
