Minister MOON, Seong-Hyeok of Oceans and Fisheries holds a bilateral meeting with Minister Ville Skinnari for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of Finland, in Seoul at 2:30 p.m. on June 17(Tuesday).

By taking today’s bilateral meeting as an opportunity, further discussion on how to expand the scope of ROK-Finland cooperation in the field of ocean is expected to take place.

The two Ministers discuss ways to promote bilateral cooperation in areas such as smart port, Northern Sea Route, green ship and polar cooperation, recognizing the significance of innovative growth in the field of ocean. In addition, Korea is planning to request support from Finland with regard to the upcoming election for Members of the IMO Council to be held at the end of this year.

At the meeting, Minister Moon will stress the importance of bilateral cooperation with Finland, in particular in the area of smart port development. He will also mention that “I hope today’s meeting would be an opportunity to take bilateral cooperation in the maritime sector to the next level, and I count on keen interest and cooperation from Finland for the successful cooperation.”
