Revisiting Seafood Safety Management from the Consumers' Perspective

  Minister Cho Seung Hwan of Oceans and Fisheries will be hosting a roundtable forum with eight consumer group leaders, including the President of the Korean National Council of Consumer Organizations, in Seoul on June 9th (Friday).

 

 

 The Ministry and consumer organizations will meet in person during the upcoming roundtable, which is being convened in light of recently heightened concerns over seafood safety by consumers. This forum will cover a range of topics, including seafood safety management measures that best fit consumer perspectives and measure to actively establish the Seafood Traceability System in its early stages, a pilot program launched just a week ago with participation from the private sector.

 

 

 Minister Cho will be highlighting “(the Ministry's) continued dynamic efforts in the management and inspection of seafood production and distribution environments that aim to ensure seafood safety for the public” while promising “to fully reflect the feedback from the roundtable in government policies.”
