Minister Cho Seung Hwan of Oceans and Fisheries attended the public hearing for the legislative bill regarding the Act on the Establishment of Marine Jurisdictions of Local Governments for the Efficient Use and Management of the Ocean, held on 27 February at the Members' Office Building at the National Assembly.

 

The bill, proposed by representative legislator Ahn Byeong-Gil, was prepared to define the procedures and standards for the determination of marine jurisdictions between local governments, which would clarify marine boundaries to prevent disputes regarding fishing zones or shared waters and impose a stronger sense of accountability among local governments on the use and management of oceans.
