| - Certification of eight new marine and fisheries technologies and identification of eleven products for the application of new technologies in the second half of 2025 |
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) announced on Monday, January 5, that it certified eight New Excellent Technologies (NETs) in ocean and fisheries and identified eleven products applying the NETs in the second half of 2025.
Since 2017, the MOF has certified new technologies by evaluating their technical nature and field applicability in the marine and fisheries sectors. As of the second half of 2025, 158 NETs have been certified. In addition, it implemented a system to verify products applying the NETs beginning in 2025 to support the expansion of commercializing new technologies and special procurement cases under the Act on Contracts to Which the State is a Party and the Act on Contracts to Which a Local Government Is a Party, identifying a total of eleven products applying the NET.
NETs certified in the second half of 2025 were eight cases, including ▲technology for manufacturing functional fiber materials based on finishing agents derived from echinoderm, such as starfish and sea urchins and ▲technology for inducing spawning and rearing of mackerel through control of water temperature and light factors. Eleven products, including ▲a photon gyro compass with embedded ship navigation technology and ▲an eco-friendly heat exchange hot water heater that uses the thermal energy of a turbo blower*, were identified.

For example, the fiber manufacturing technology utilizing echinoderms such as starfish and sea urchins is a new technology developed through a Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries R&D project. It demonstrated approximately 20% improved durability and about 15% enhanced deodorization performance compared to conventional fibers.
A company with a NET certification receives additional points when applying for R&D in ocean and fisheries under a startup investment support project, and can apply for test construction when carrying out marine and fisheries construction projects. In addition, products applying NET are eligible to private contracting in public procurement in accordance with the Act on Contracts to Which the State is a Party and the Act on Contracts to Which a Local Government Is a Party.
Companies wishing to obtain certification of NET in the ocean and fishery and to be identified as a product applying NET in the first half of 2026 can apply by referring to the notice posted in the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries website (www.mof.go.kr).
Kim Myeong-jin, Director General of Marine Policy at the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, said, “The NET in the ocean and fisheries certification system is important because it connects excellent outcomes created through R&D to industrial sites. We will accelerate follow-up support to help promising companies successfully expand their sales channels.”
