Acceleration of Overseas Entry of Offshore 
Plant Service Industry by Expanding Partner Countries 
 
- Following Indonesia, holding the first cooperation event for the marine plant service industry in Vietnam on November 5-6 
 
 
  The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF; Minister Chun Jae-soo) announced that it would be holding the first cooperation event for Offshore Plant Service Industry* in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from Wednesday, November 5 to Thursday, November 6 to support the overseas entry of the Korean marine plant service industry.
 
  * All post-construction stages of Offshore Plant Industry including transportation, installation, operation, maintenance, and dismantling are a high-value-added industry by creating more than 50% of the total added value of marine plants.
 
  MOF has been carrying out various cooperative projects including Offshore Plant dismantling and recycling and human resource training, with focus on Indonesia. This event in Vietnam will be organized to build on past experience and support domestic companies in identifying business opportunities in new markets, while exploring ways to diversify future partner countries.
 
  Vietnam has a number of large-scale offshore oil and gas production plants, having recently seen growing demand for technologies to dismantle and recycle these plants safely and in an environment-friendly manner. Accordingly, the potential for practical cooperation with Korea—which has successfully dismantled and recycled aging offshore plants in Indonesia—is growing.
 
  This event will feature approximately 30 Korean Offshore Plant Service companies and 100 Vietnamese companies to identify specific cooperation models and build partnerships through ▲ the Korea-Vietnam Offshore Plant Service Industry Cooperation Forum, ▲ a Vietnam market briefing, and ▲ an Export consultation meeting between Korean and Vietnamese companies.
 
   “We hope that this event—the first of its kind to be held in Vietnam—will serve as a starting point for further expanding cooperation between our two countries in Offshore Plant Service Industry. We will actively support domestic Offshore Plant Service companies in advancing into Vietnam, following Indonesia, through this event,” said Kim Myeong-jin, Director General of Marine Policy at MOF.
