The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF), led by Minister Hwang Jong-woo, will launch a Public Institution Functional Reform Task Force comprising MOF and its affiliated public institutions to reorganize their functions and improve efficiency by addressing similar and overlapping responsibilities. On Thursday, September 3, the government announced its Plan for Reforming the Functions of Public Institutions, which seeks to transform their functions and roles to support Korea’s next major leap forward. The reform focuses on rationalizing similar and overlapping functions and linking dispersed functions more effectively so that public institutions can fulfill their core roles.
