Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Hwang Jong-woo visited a land-based tank farm raising trout in Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do, on Tuesday, August 11, to review responses to high water temperature disasters and assess damage. The visit was intended to encourage fishers concerned about the continuing heatwave and high water temperatures, and inspect preparedness, including response equipment, to minimize damage. Minister Hwang said, “Groundwater temperatures at inland aquaculture farms across the country, including Chungbuk, have recently risen, raising serious concerns about potential damage.” He urged inland fishers to mobilize all available equipment, including heat pumps, liquid oxygen systems, and paddlewheel aerators, and carefully manage farms during the high water temperature period by adjusting stocking density and feeding.
