On Tuesday, July 14, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries hosted an event at Busan Port welcoming Princess Anne of the UK to reflect on the significance of bilateral maritime cooperation. Busan Port was first introduced to the West as "Chosan Harbour" in 1797 through the sailing journal published by Captain Broughton of HMS Providence. It is a historical site connecting Korea and the UK, including the installation of the Jeroe Lighthouse on a reef under the lead of Briton McLeavy Brown in 1905 during the early opening of Busan Port. The event was attended by Princess Anne, Vice Minister Nam Jae-heon, and invited officials from both countries, who shared the history and development of Busan Port, as well as past footprints and future visions of bilateral maritime exchange.
