Minister of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries Hwang Jong-woo visited the Nakdong River estuary area on Thursday, June 11 to inspect the current state of waste management for waste flowing into the ocean through rivers and estuaries, and conducted a cleanup activity together with relevant agencies. The event was attended by approximately 100 participants including Minister Hwang, Jang In-sik, Acting Commissioner of the Korea Coast Guard, Lee Gap-jun, Mayor of Saha-gu, and officials from the Korea Marine Environment Corporation and Busan Port Authority. The attendees collected waste that had flowed into the area around Doyo-deung, an uninhabited island in the Nakdong River estuary, and carried out on-site response efforts to prevent damage from marine debris during the heavy rainfall season.
