Minister of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries Hwang Jong-woo attended the opening ceremony of the 2026 Ocean Week held at BEXCO in Busan from Monday, June 8, to Wednesday, June 10. Officials from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Busan Metropolitan City, Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, related universities, shipping companies, and relevant public institutions attended the event. Ocean Week is an annual event that began as the Ocean Conference in 2019 but was reorganized into Ocean Week in 2023. It serves as a gathering of the government, public institutions, industry, research institutes, and academia to share information on key issues and trends in the marine industry and to discuss future development plans. In particular, this year’s event will feature a forum for in-depth public discussion on topics such as Arctic shipping routes, blue carbon, and offshore wind power.
