Minister of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries Hwang Jong-woo paid tribute at the Memorial Tower for Fallen Seafarers on Monday, May 4 together with eight agencies* that organize the memorial service. Afterward, he held a meeting with the executive board of the Federation of Korean Seafarers' Unions (FKSU) to listen to the union's views on major seafarer-related issues and seafarer policies. The meeting was attended by 12 officials from the Federation of Korean Seafarers' Unions (FKSU), including Chairman Kim Du-young and other executive board members. During the meeting, Minister Hwang held in-depth discussions with the attendees on the union's proposals including measures to ensure seafarer safety amid the prolonged conflict in the Middle East and institutional improvements to enhance seafarer welfare and treatment.
