Minister of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries Hwang Jong-woo inspected the readiness of Korean vessels (26 ships) for transiting the Strait of Hormuz on Friday, April 10 with the participation of representatives from the shipowners and ship management companies of Korean vessels located inside the Strait of Hormuz. The meeting was held to review the self-prepared transit plans that each shipping company has been working on since the first meeting on Wednesday, April 8 regarding the Strait of Hormuz transit, and to share the relevant information. At the meeting, Minister Hwang emphasized that ensuring the safe and rapid transit of our vessels in the Strait of Hormuz is the most urgent task. He added that close attention must be paid to the safety of both the crew and the vessels given the uncertainties surrounding the transit through the strait. MOF reported that most vessels have completed preliminary preparations—including equipment inspections and provisioning for full operation—and vowed to provide full support to enable Korean vessels to transit the Strait of Hormuz quickly and safely.
