The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (Minister Hwang Jong-woo) held the 15th Fishermen's Day commemorative ceremony at the Yeosu World Expo site in Yeosu, South Jeolla Province on Wednesday, April 1 at 2 PM (KST) under the theme "The Sea We Protected Together, The Future of Fisheries Growing Together." Fishermen's Day is a statutory commemorative day designated to inform the public of the importance of the fisheries industry and fishing villages, and to boost the pride of fishermen. This year's ceremony was held in Yeosu, a marine tourism city famous for its beautiful night sea and Odongdo Island.
