Acting Minister for the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries Kim Sungbum presided over a meeting on Sunday, March 1 to inspect the safety management status of Korean vessels following military operations against Iran by the United States and Israel. MOF formed an emergency response team immediately upon the occurrence of the situation on Saturday, February 28. It is maintaining a 24-hour emergency response system to ensure the safety of Korean crew members and vessels while monitoring vessels operating in nearby waters in real time. Unusual trends are also being shared with shipping companies and vessels through real-time communication channels. As of Sunday, March 1, MOF has confirmed that no damage to Korean ships has been reported. Acting Minister Kim, who presided over a meeting of the relevant agencies on Wednesday, February 25, held this meeting immediately after attending a situation assessment meeting presided over by the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs today (March 1) to review safety issues regarding Korean seafarers and vessels, including measures for uninterrupted import and export logistics.
