Acting Minister for the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries Kim Sungbum presided over a meeting on Wednesday, February 25 to review the safety management status of Korean vessels amid increased uncertainty in the Middle East following the recent escalation of military conflict between the United States and Iran. At the meeting attended by relevant agencies including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Defense, National Intelligence Service, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, and Korea Shipping Association, Acting Minister Kim reviewed the operational safety of Korean vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz and the status of maritime logistics measures and inspected the cooperation system among the relevant agencies to ensure swift response in the event of a crisis.
