Acting Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Kim Seong-beom held a Fisheries Supply and Price Task Force meeting at MOF on the afternoon of Monday, February 9, to strengthen special management of fishery product prices. The meeting reviewed supply-demand situations across all stages—production, import/export, distribution, and consumption—for major fishery products and discussed whether policy measures for each stage were being implemented effectively in the field. Acting Minister Kim emphasized thorough management to ensure government price-stabilization measures lead to actual price reductions and called for preparation of policy alternatives. Under the Lunar New Year Livelihood Stabilization Measures, MOF is holding the Korea Fisheries Fair – Lunar New Year Special Promotion, offering discounts of up to 50% on fishery products at supermarkets and online malls, and implementing various policies to stabilize supply and prices, including releasing 13,000 tons of stockpiled seafood.
