Holding the 2026 Briefing on Investment in Overseas Logistics Markets to Support Korean Companies’ Entry into Overseas Logistics Markets
- Responding to changes in the North American trade environment and exploring local investment strategies for Korean shipping and logistics companies

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF; Minister Hwang Jong-woo) announced that it would be holding the 2026 Briefing on Investment in Overseas Logistics Markets in Seoul on Wednesday, October 21 to respond to changes in North American trade norms and to support local investment strategies for Korean shipping and logistics companies, as well as manufacturing companies engaged in international trade.

Since 2011, MOF has organized events to support the smooth entry of Korean companies into overseas logistics markets by identifying promising overseas logistics markets and providing information such as local logistics market trends and investment policies each year.

In particular, this briefing session was organized to support Korean companies in exploring local investment strategies and response measures given the rapidly changing North American trade environment including nearshoring* driven by the renegotiation of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and the strengthening of rules of origin. At the briefing, Korean logistics company FNS and the Wilson Center**, US-based policy research institution, will introduce North American supply chain restructuring and strategies for responding to the North American logistics market. Hanwha Solutions (HSC) will also discuss the demand for logistics services in emerging industries, and US-based integrated logistics company JB Hunt will explain US freight market trends and opportunities for cooperation.

** An international policy research institution based in Washington, D.C. and established by the US Congress in 1968 to analyze international affairs and global issues related to economic security, global supply chains, emerging technologies, and more

“I hope this briefing on investment will serve as an opportunity for Korean shipping, logistics, and import/export companies to develop practical strategies given the restructuring of global supply chains and changes in the North American trade environment. We will continue to expand policy support for our companies’ entry into overseas markets,” said Kim Hye-jeong, Director General of Shipping and Logistics at MOF.
