Issuing Commemorative Stamps to Kick off the 2026 World Maritime Day...Holding the Commemorative Event in Busan
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF; Minister Hwang Jong-woo) and Korea Post (CEO Park In-hwan) announced that they would be jointly issuing commemorative stamps for the 2026 World Maritime Day.
Commemorating the importance of maritime industries such as shipping and shipbuilding, World Maritime Day is observed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) under the UN. This year's commemorative event* will be held in Busan on Monday, October 26. Accordingly, the commemorative stamps were issued to highlight the significance of World Maritime Day and raise public awareness. To mark the stamps' issuance on Tuesday, September 15, a ceremony was held at MOF headquarters, where the CEO of Korea Post presented the stamps to the Vice Minister of Oceans and Fisheries.
* Monday, October 26 – Tuesday, October 27 / Busan Port International Exhibition & Convention Center (BPEX) / Heads of international maritime organizations, ministers of major countries, etc.
“I hope this commemorative stamp will serve as a meaningful reminder of the value of the ocean, which supports our daily lives and economy, and of our shared commitment to creating a safe and sustainable ocean,” said Park In-hwan, CEO of Korea Post.
“It is especially meaningful that these commemorative stamps provide an opportunity to highlight the value of the ocean and the importance of the maritime industry. I also hope the public will show strong interest and support for the 2026 World Maritime Day commemorative event to be held in Busan next month,” said MOF Vice Minister Nam Jae-heon.
