Building the New Head Office Complex of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries on the Phase 1 Redevelopment site of North Port in Dong-gu, Busan
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF; Minister Hwang Jong-woo) announced on Thursday, August 6 that it selected the Phase 1 Redevelopment site of North Port in Dong-gu, Busan as proposed by Dong-gu Office for the new Head Office Complex.
MOF received proposals from Busan's basic local governments for three days from July 29 to 31 to select a site for the new head office building, with four districts participating: Gangseo-gu, Nam-gu, Dong-gu, and Jung-gu.
Composed of experts from various fields, the Site Selection Evaluation Committee* selected the Phase 1 redevelopment site of North Port in Dong-gu, Busan on Wednesday, August 5 following presentations of proposals by the participating local governments and fair and objective review. It received excellent evaluations in all areas including ease of site acquisition, potential for integration with other institutions, and transportation accessibility.
* Composed of 10 members including city, transportation and marine/fisheries organizations, academia, civic groups, and employee representatives
With the site selection finalized, MOF plans to determine the size of the facility by the end of this year and begin full-scale procedures to complete construction of the new building by 2030.

With the key base location for the southern maritime hub poised to lead the era of the Arctic routes now finalized, we are fully committed to ensuring that the project moves forward smoothly and without disruption,” Minister Hwang Jong-woo said.
