Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Attends Announcement Ceremony for Heung-A Shipping Headquarters Relocation Plan
Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Hwang Jong-woo attended the announcement ceremony held at the President Hotel in Seoul on Tuesday, July 7 for the relocation of Heung-A Shipping's headquarters to Busan.
First established in Busan in 1961, Heung-A Shipping became the first company in the domestic shipping industry to be listed on the Korea Exchange (KOSPI) in 1976. It is a leading domestic shipping company specializing in the transportation of special cargo—such as liquid oil and petrochemical products—primarily in Asia.
Heung-A Shipping announced that it is relocating to Busan—where the maritime cluster is located—in order to leap forward as a global shipping specialist focused on eco-friendly large vessels and stated that it plans to complete the relocation by the end of this year.
“I sincerely welcome and thank Heung-A Shipping for returning to Busan after relocating its headquarters to Seoul in 1986. We will provide maximum support to strengthen the competitiveness of relocating shipping companies and continue our efforts to develop Busan into a true maritime capital,” Minister Hwang said.
