From Surfing to Yachts and Cruises… 'Everything in Marine Leisure' Unfolds at Busan's Major Beaches
- 14th Korea International Marine Leisure Week Opens; Set for a Long Journey through November Following Opening Ceremony on July 30

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF, Minister Hwang Jong-woo) announced that the "14th Korea International Marine Leisure Week (KIMA WEEK 2026)," the country's largest marine leisure festival, will kick off on Thursday, July 30, in the Dadaepo Beach area in Busan.

Korea International Marine Leisure Week is an international marine leisure culture festival co-hosted by the MOF and Busan Metropolitan City to expand opportunities for the public to experience marine leisure, activate marine tourism, and lead the development of the marine leisure industry.

This year's event will begin with an opening ceremony and cultural performances at Dadaepo Beach in Busan on Thursday, July 30. Throughout August, various marine leisure experience programs, including surfing, yachting, and cruising, will take place at Busan's major beaches, such as Dadaepo, Gwangalli, and Haeundae. In addition, diverse side events—including the National Beach Rowing Competition, academic conferences, an idea contest, and a National Assembly policy forum—will be held sequentially through November.

Furthermore, "KIMA BEACH" will be set up at Dadaepo Beach, featuring experience booths, a flea market, movie screenings, and photo zones to allow tourists and citizens to fully enjoy the marine leisure festival.

Nam Jae-heon, Vice Minister of Oceans and Fisheries, said, "We hope this event will widely showcase the charm of marine leisure and serve as a meaningful occasion to shape the future of Korea's marine tourism together." He added, "We will continue to do our best to ensure that marine leisure tourism establishes itself as a new growth engine for South Korea."
