The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) announced that it would be promoting Korean seafood products during the World Congress of the Association des Maîtres Cuisiniers de France (MCF) to be held at Pullman Ambassador Seoul Eastpole from March 15 to 16. The event is part of celebrations marking the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and France.
* As one of the most prestigious chef associations in France, MCF includes more than 500 chefs from over 20 countries. Its members operate about 390 restaurants worldwide as of 2025, including around 40 Michelin-starred establishments.
The MCF World Congress is held annually in France and attended by approximately 500 participants, including member chefs and partner organizations. It is held outside France every five years, and this year marks the first time it will be hosted in Korea.
Taking this opportunity, MOF plans to promote Korean seafood products to European master chefs and global buyers by operating a K-Seafood promotion pavilion and hosting a dinner featuring Korean seafood as key ingredients. The ministry aims to expand export opportunities for Korean seafood products.
A total of 50 products from 22 companies will be displayed at the promotion pavilion. These products will participate in an ingredient competition evaluated by five MCF master chefs, with the top three companies to be given opportunities to supply their products to hotels, restaurants, and department stores operated by MCF members.
Following the congress, master chefs and overseas buyers will also visit aquaculture sites for oysters, abalone, and seaweed to observe Korea’s seafood production firsthand.
Kim Sungbum, Acting Minister of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, will attend the event to inspect the K-Seafood promotion pavilion and encourage efforts to expand exports of Korean seafood products.
“We hope this event will serve as a gateway for Korean seafood products to enter the European market by introducing their taste and quality to global culinary professionals. The ministry will continue to support efforts to build a sustainable export foundation for Korea’s high-quality seafood products,” said Minister Kim.
