- Documentary on K-Gim (dried laver) with Chef Ahn Sung-jae airing on MBC at 9 PM on January 28
 
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) announced that K-Gim Revolutiona documentary on gim to promote the excellence of gim in Korea’s seaswill be aired on Wednesday, January 28 through domestic and international broadcasters* and OTT**.

This documentary was planned to introduce the excellence of K-Fish focusing on gima leading K-Fish product under the national integrated brand managed by MOFto domestic and international viewers. 3-Michelin-star Chef Ahn Sung-jae will host the program and depict the journey of gim from production to its appearance on tables worldwide.
 
* A national integrated brand operated and managed by MOF for 19 items (gim, oysters, flounder, abalone, etc.). The use of the brand is approved only after strict quality evaluations.
 
Korean gim accounts for more than 70% of the global market and has the highest share among the major gim-producing countries (Korea, China, and Japan); in the global market, however, it is sometimes called nori (のり)a Japanese nameor more commonly, seaweed.
 
Through this documentary, MOF plans to introduce “gim,” the Korean term for dried laver, to consumers worldwide. It will also highlight the influence of Korean gimwhich has a competitive advantage in taste and quality through rigorous management and clean oceanson the global gourmet market.
 
Consisting of two 30-minute parts, this documentary will be broadcast on MBC at 9 PM on January 28 with simultaneous uploads to OTT platforms such as Wavve.
 
It will be aired by MBC America in the US at 9:10 PM Pacific Time on January 28, by History UK in the UK and Europe in February, and by Lifetime Asia in 23 Asian countries including Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Indonesia on March 27.
 
“With the spread of the Korean Wave, Korea’s seafood products (K-Seafood) are leading the food culture. We will continue working to publicize the excellence of Korean seafood including gim, and will leave no stone unturned to solidify the position of Korean seafood in the global market,” Kim Sung-beom, Acting Minister of Oceans and Fisheries, said.
