The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF; Minister Chun Jae-soo) announced that it would be holding the Asia-Pacific International Conference on Maritime Digitalization at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul from Tuesday, October 21 to Wednesday, October 22.
Launched in 2017, the Asia-Pacific International Conference is one of the world's top three international maritime digital events. Now in its ninth year, it brings together Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America to discuss the international standardization and development of maritime digital technologies.
This year's conference will be themed “Digital Seas: Innovation for Safety and Sustainability” and attended by more than 150 government and industry experts, including heads of international organizations such as International Navigational Aids Organization (IALA) and International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) and government officials from more than 20 countries such as the United States, Japan, and Singapore.
Attendees at this conference will discuss key issues such as ▲international cooperation measures for global maritime digital information sharing, ▲artificial intelligence (AI) conversion strategy in the maritime industry, and ▲ways to utilize marine digital technology for safe navigation in polar waters, including the Arctic shipping route.
"I hope this conference will serve as an opportunity to assess the current state of maritime digital technology and, in particular, establish a foundation for international cooperation for new challenges such as AI transition and Arctic shipping route. We will share Korea's outstanding technologies and experiences with the international community and fulfill our role as a maritime digital powerhouse," Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Chun Jae-soo said.
